Actually it was not started directly with this challenging project. There was much more done to us before this. We were given a heavy dose of leadership training! In first session, the story of origin of FOSTER were told to us. It was really inspiring story that was full of challenges and hurdles. Sannan khan, the founder of Foster Flagship Program, told his journey that started with failures & got success and still going on. He is man of powerful words & a man of actions. I found this phrase perfect :
“And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, “This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!” And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what’s important.”
We were given some interesting activities throughout the sessions & tasks for enhancing our competencies. Marshmallow challenge was the most interesting & our team was disqualified but no regrets 😂Fun was at its extreme. Then we had an outdoor activity in which our team again disqualified. The mistakes we made in these activities realized us to ponder upon our blunders.
We were given a task of “ Life Map Writing” in which we have to write all our past experiences & realize our past failures & take it in a positive way. Everyone’s Charts were completely filled. The stuff was too much🤣
Finally first outdoor plantation project was assigned to a team of four members. Team members were new to each other. The names of our team members announced.
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” — Henry Ford
With a pack of positive energy we started planning. The objective was very clear!we moved towards goals.what we decided first what type of plants we will plant according to the season.I didn’t know the name of a single plant .when i searched, the names were quite difficult 😂.we finalized plants of 3 different types that were Pilkhan, concarpus & sukhchain. One of my team member arranged the plants from a nursery.
“The care of the Earth is our most ancient and most worthy, and after all, our most pleasing responsibility. ”
Place for plantation was seemed difficult to decide because we have to make sure that plants will be looked after very well & carefully. I didn’t know about city’s schools & colleges & my team members were also outsiders. We continue to think about 2 days 🤔. My friend suggested her colony for plantation. She gave me overview of her colony & i liked the idea! The location was very far from my house but i said “Ok” we will do it!
“The best teamwork comes from members who are working independently toward one goal in unison.”
Then we thought we must have a second option. My two team members started efforts to cope up with the head of a park after a wait of 1 day but all gone in vain. Then we tried for another place. Again we didn’t get any suitable olace.
The time to execute a plan arrived. I was leading the time & my members were so cooperative. we exchanged our opinions, ideas, problems & their solutions as well.
When me & my friend took off from the university, i took uber. The uber driver became annoyed when we requested him to bought the “samosas”from the shop. We dropped from the rickshaw 😂.Then we called another uber again, then after wastage of 25 minutes he cancelled the drive😁.We reached the venue finally after some struggle. My team members arrived and then we started our work.
I never planted a tree before than this activity. My team members learned me to plant the trees. That team moments were very memorable.Every team member planted more than 5 plants. Then we attached foster logo printouts nearby plants. Our plants looked so beautiful. We fell in love with our plants.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
We clicked too many pictures & then gave water to the plants. We made videos and pictures for news channel coverage. All things gone amazing.Everyone went back to home after thismemorable project. We got tired too much😴.
Next day we planned to make a presentation on this project. One of my team member made it & we prepared the presentation 20 minutes before 😁 due to hectic academic schedule. But at last presentation was not that bad. We are preparing to do great in next upcoming projects.
“ We are proud to be Fosterians” ✌.
