Foster learning is a short course inaugurated in our university by some passionate and enthusiastic people from Lahore to facilitate students and to polish their abilities. I am also lucky enough to get a chance to groom my personality through this course. Now I am going to share my experience in it.
Foster Learning enables the students to explore their personality, to find their passions and then set their goals. After having the set goals, one gets a direction in which he/she can work or put all his/her efforts. In these sessions, we work on finding our weaknesses which most of us do not even know about and never ever tried to find it. We always think ourselves as perfect which no one is except GOD.
I didn’t even know about it till the last date of application submission when my friend texted me to apply for it which I did then. After a few days I was called for interview. I went for interview where I met Sannan, a very humble and great personality. I was selected in the interview and in the last moments of my interview, Sannan handed me a slip and asked me to submit Rs.3200 in the given account which was shocking for me. I took the slip and came out of their happily and very much excited. Both me and my friend Naveed were lucky to be selected.
Later on, after the last date of submission we changed our mind and decided not to take the course. But after the call we received from the foster head office Lahore explaining the pros and cons of the course and asked us to pay the dues. So, we paid the fee and eventually, we got into the foster learning classes/sessions.
I attended the first session, it was awesome. Sannan motivated all of us to pay your full attention in the course and to work in collaboration with each other, work like a team and work for a shared goal. He also put a lot of emphasis on giving respect to everyone and to avoid negative comments and not to humiliate anyone. He affirmed to look like a family and sit like a family which was a new thing for us in the university.
We were being very much involved into this foster thing and began to love it. In every session we do at least one activity which was completely relevant to the course and really an educating one just like a fable. The most interesting activity was the marshmallow tower. It was an activity that needed teamwork and it needs proper communication, proper and critical thinking and proper execution of plans. Most of the people do not plan things and just rush into it and end up with nothing.
The last activity which was assigned to us was tree plantation. It was an amazing act to perform and it helps to tackle the world’s prevailing global warming issue and this activity was also meant to address that issue. Students participated in this noble cause effectively and they had done their jobs efficiently with a few exceptions.
Then at last we came to the presentations session which was an entertaining session. All the groups were asked to brief the previously studied modules and there was a lot to recall and a lot to learn from those presentations. I have presented many times before this one but to be honest this was my best experience ever. I have never felt that much satisfied ever before.
I have learned a lot from this flagship program even in the first two weeks with six weeks still to come. So, I am super excited about the remaining period and I know that I am gonna learn a lot from the remaining modules. I will also learn about dealing with friends and an unknown person during outdoor projects. So, I am looking forward desperately.
In the end I would like to tell you the most important and the most loving thing about foster learning is their “Fun To Home” rather than the assignments.
This was my brief experience from the foster. I like Foster Learning Program. Let me know if you like it too in the comments below and also like its official page on Facebook.
